The Memory of Albion

The MeMory of ALBION

we shall remember
we shall be remembered ═══════

The figure in the picture is Albion by the poet, visionary and printer William Blake.

If Albion Millennium Green had a voice and asked us "who am I?" How would we help it remember?

We remember its historical journey from being forested to being commoned, enclosed, flooded by a reservoir, drained, used to keep deer and then used as a buffer zone from the new railway (which replaced the canal) to shield genteel houses. All this before being made into a tennis club which fell into disuse and was threatened with housing development.

A remarkable story needs a remarkable cast and Albion doesn't disappoint. Dotted around the neighbourhood are characters who have risen above circumstances to show us the extraordinary world of our common humanity.
